What is a Brave Talk Recovery Token? Follow
Brave Talk allows users to schedule recurring calls that use the same room and Talk link for each meeting. However, in order for the moderator of these recurring meetings to retain their moderator privileges for each call, they must join the call using the same device and browser profile they initially used to create the call. The original moderator will not have moderator privileges if they join the same call:
- From a different device
- From a different browser
- Using a different browser profile
- If they've deleted browsing data from the profile the call was initially created on or have reinstalled the browser
This is because the data that holds the moderator privileges for the call is stored in the browser’s local storage, which is specific to each browser profile. If that data isn't detected when they log in, they will join the call as a normal participant and not the moderator of the call.
To address this, users can use their Brave Talk recovery token to load their Brave Talk call data. This will help if they lose the original data, or if the call's original moderator needs to join the call (as a moderator) from a different device. Each token is unique and will preserve moderator privileges for all calls/rooms created at the time the token was generated.
Note: This means that after generating a token, if you then create additional rooms/recurring calls in which you are the moderator, you will need to generate a new token in order to include those new rooms.
