Customizing your adblock experience
Within the Content filtering menu, you can enable additional filter lists which may provide more comprehensive blocking of annoying or distracting elements, or ads on regional websites.
Creating your own filters
Brave Browser allows you to create and apply your own custom adblock filters through two methods: the Block elements feature and by writing filters manually.
To view and modify your own custom adblock filters:
-
On Desktop:
Settings --> Shields --> Content filtering --> Create custom filters -
On iOS:
Settings --> Shields & Privacy --> Content Filtering --> Custom Filters -
On Android:
Settings --> Brave Shields & privacy --> Content filtering --> Create custom filters
You can also create your own filters using the built-in Block elements feature. Learn more about the Block elements feature.
Writing filters manually
Creating your own adblock filter rules can futher modify the way websites work or display on your device.
Brave is broadly compatible with uBlock Origin's filter rule syntax. We encourage you to refer to the uBlock Origin Static filter syntax page.
Differences in compatibility are treated as bugs and are documented in the adblock-rust issue tracker.
